Last Thursday, 23rd of November, Manchester played host to the Co-operative Practitioners Forum 2023. The flagship training and development event showcased an impressive line-up of 20 individual sessions across five forums: governance, communications, HR, finance, and membership; offering a day filled with insights, learning, and ample networking opportunities.

The Co-op Practitioners Forum provided a platform for fruitful discussions, enabling attendees to delve into strategies to enhance member engagement, democratic processes, and overall cooperative success. The event’s carefully curated format allowed for a comprehensive exploration of key themes, with each forum offering four one-hour sessions.

Amongst the attendees were our very own Andy Tye and Fernando Aston, representing UK Engage, as we are a key player in fostering engagement and collaboration across diverse sectors.

UK Engage Associate Director Andy, expressed his enthusiasm for the experience by saying “It was great to attend the Co-op Practitioners event last Thursday and meet with so many co-operatives looking to increase engagement with their members. Fernando and I found the sessions very useful and informative, covering many engagement related topics. If we didn’t manage to talk with you on the day, it would be great to connect with you in the near future, especially if you are looking to increase engagement in member democratic processes for your AMM.”

The Co-op Practitioners Forum 2023 proved to be a cornerstone event for co-operatives, fostering collaboration and sharing knowledge. UK Engage’s presence added a valuable perspective to the discussions, reinforcing the commitment to advancing engagement and participation within co-operative communities.
