UK Engage has been appointed the official technology partner for the GFTU’s Biennial General Council Meeting. As its first virtual general council meeting, the GFTU will be calling on a secure live solution from its democratic delivery partner so that affiliate members are able to vote on crucial motions, in real-time, from any location.
Conference Voting is a live voting solution that is suitable for any type of meeting where participants need to cast secure votes in a transparent and impartial manner. The bespoke solution meets the growing requirements for voting at hybrid and virtual meetings.
UK Engage and the GFTU will be working together to deliver the live voting on the day. With the added function of presentation slides, the Conference Voting solution will be used to deliver the content for the entire virtual meeting and provide the facility for affiliates to vote on motions. The flexible system means that the GFTU team can easily build and present slides, while UK Engage will manage the administration of the system along with data.
Customer Service and Production Manager, Craig Poyser, says of the live voting solution. “The system is designed to meet a clients’ individual needs and is available as a self or part managed service, so the client can choose how to run polls and ballots in a transparent and impartial manner.”
Other benefits of the system include a question function, ‘for’, ‘against’ and ‘abstain’ voting, plus candidate voting, anonymous and non-anonymous voting, a voting timer, and a ballot ‘on command’ function.
Andy Tye, General Manager at UK Engage said of the appointment. “As a partner to the GFTU, we are delighted to provide our live voting solution for its first virtual Biennial General Council Meeting. Conference Voting is the perfect solution for the GFTU as it allows a similar participation experience as a physical meeting and allows affiliates to vote on motions during the meeting in a more accurate way than a show of hands. The system will even allow voters to review and change their vote, as long as it is within the voting window.”
Prior to the BGCM attendees will receive an election code-protected link to access Conference Voting. Only validated participants can attend the meeting and vote in real-time. An observer mode allows others to watch the meeting but does not allow them to vote.
UK Engage is a leading provider of postal voting and online voting technology. Conference Voting is being used by many organisations, including trade unions, to support hybrid and virtual meeting voting.
