Angell Town, Brixton, Estate Management Board achieves democratic renewal with UK-Engage support
UK-Engage has been privileged to be involved in organising election ballots for a number of Tenant Management Organisations over the years, so naturally we were delighted when we were approached by Angell Town Estate Management Board (EMB) Brixton. Angell Town EMB is responsible for the management of 444 social housing properties on the award-winning Angell Town Estate in the Coldharbour ward of Brixton.
The Challenge:
Angel Town EMB asked for UK-Engage help and support to select a new Board and oversee its election process.
The Solution:
- UK-Engage supported the EMB by making recommendations about the conduct of the election, and participating in a Board away-day to agree and ratify the election process.
- UK-Engage verified the nominations and prepared all the required ballot papers for the election.
- UK-Engage provided an independent chair for the Estate Management Board’s AGM.
- UK-Engage provided on-site staff to register members attending the AGM, and issue and count ballot papers.
The Result:
A new Estate Management Board comprising 12 members was duly elected, and this has enabled the estate to move forward in a positive direction.
