UK Engage Provides In Store Voting For Co-Operative Members Of Jersey & Guernsey

In store voting proves a hit with Channel Island Co-operative Society Members

Client:

The Channel Island Co-operative Society is a retail business dedicated to the principles of co-operative trade. It has 145,000 members across Jersey and Guernsey; eligible members have an equal vote on company matters before and at the AMM.

Democratic Project:

One of the challenges for the Channel Island Co-op Society was that they wanted to get members to vote in the Board of Directors Election via paperless methods. To help achieve its objective UK Engage developed an online registration form, an electronic voting platform and in store voting across two stores, one in Guernsey, one in Jersey.

Solution:

An online registration form was developed to enable members to register themselves for an electronic vote. In addition, a bespoke e-voting system and a series of emails were developed to support the co-op’s strategy to move from paper to digital voting. UK Engage also provided in store voting in two stores. Members were able to vote at one store in Jersey and one in Guernsey, for one day only.

Results

The in store voting proved extremely popular and accounted for 48% of the overall votes cast, which was impressive considering the voting period for in store voting was only two days.
